America's "Hereditary" Moment Has Arrived
Similar To The Story In The Acclaimed Horror Film, The Malignant Nature Of Our Political "Family" Is Outwardly Revealing Itself
Four years ago, I was scrolling through Facebook and happened upon a post from one of my relatives, a person with a true appreciation of Film, Art, and especially Music. I’ve always looked up to him as someone with a keen intellect and great taste. He was uncharacteristically over the top in recommending a newly released film, “Hereditary”.
“Why am I not seeing any mention or discussion of "Hereditary" on Facebook? Caught this new movie, directed by Ari Aster, his first full-length film, It is one of the best films I've ever seen and without a doubt the very best horror film. It's a brilliantly directed, incredibly dense film, yet grippingly accessible, and I want to see it a second time; however, I'm almost scared to. There are disturbing scenes throughout this movie I will never forget”
As someone who sat through the big screen version of William Peter Blatty’s “The Exorcist” in all its terrifying moments, that was saying something. I rented the film and found that indeed, it was as gripping and terrifying as my relative had claimed it was, if slightly opaque in meaning. Specifically, it felt like something was missing in my understanding of the storyline. I recently rewatched it, and suddenly, all the missing pieces came together. Some online analysis also helped to clarify.
No spoilers in case you haven’t seen it, but suffice to say that the most terrifying aspect of the “Hereditary” storyline is that the characters, unaware of the danger they live with, were betrayed long ago, their fates sealed by their family, the very people they trusted.
So it is with the elected political “family” that we entrust with our well-being and general public safety. In a real-life reflection of the fictitious “Hereditary” story, they have revealed their true, malignant nature. Whether anything can be done at this late date to alter the course of our collective fate, planned for decades, seems doubtful.
What made “Hereditary” work as a narrative, on the level of suspending disbelief in the audience, is that the horror was occurring in broad daylight as much as it was in the dark of night. Throughout the film, strangers with nefarious intentions pose as friends and reach out to the protagonists in seemingly “coincidental” moments with false claims of comfort. This is reflected today, in real life, by any random perusal of corporate media and government narratives at any given hour. They are the people creating the horror, while simultaneously claiming they are protecting us from it: normalizing perpetual war and nuclear conflict, ignoring the spread of disease, lying about the state of the manipulated economy, and betraying rail workers and those on the frontlines of public health.
Republicans have become godawful parodies of themselves. Devoid of empathy and intellect, they shout and scream and point fingers at the least powerful as the source of all our problems. Like the rightward-moving Democrats, they are in a race to see who can hire, train and militarize police the fastest, like some bizarre, authoritarian Olympics competition. Deliberation and intellect are now tossed aside in favor of tapping into primitive, nascent fears of a society run amok. Vote for me, and the laws I craft, they imply, and you will be safe. Politicians posing as Daddy and Mommy protectors.
In the run-up to the elections, the Republicans toss humanity and empathy into the dumpster fire of political “discourse”, especially in their treatment of powerless and desperate migrants. No one should underestimate the harm done by this aggressive, authoritarian abuse: overturning women’s rights to bodily autonomy, targeting immigrants, gutting programs for the elderly, poor, and disenfranchised, all while blaming the least powerful for all the problems they create through their active participation.
The GOP under Ronald Reagan seem like intellectual giants compared to the low IQ, hate-filled diatribes that they wrap themselves so proudly in. They reduce complex issues with gray areas into simplified black and white “solutions” for voracious consumption by their angry, rabid, base.
No better example than the GOP golden boy Ron DeSantis, who, every day since being sworn in, is constantly overreaching and abusing his public platform as Governor to unofficially campaign for President. I live in Florida, and I can guarantee that in six years plus of residing here, I have never been approached, recruited, or influenced by the Chinese Communist Party. Who does DeSantis think has kept Wal Marts, COSTCO’S, and Sam’s Club going all these years? These “threats” simply come from the warped, childish imagination of DeSantis, summoning his inner bully, and have no bearing in reality. He literally creates “problems” that he can propose draconian “solutions” for. He tweets in the guise of “Daddy protector,” with no sense of irony that he is not, in fact, President, much less is he responsible for protecting the “Homeland.”
Consider that DeSantis can’t even protect Florida from the ravages of COVID or escalating rent prices, very real threats. Failing at that, he projects and creates an enemy.
The Democrats, posing as a humanitarian “alternative” are only now starting to reveal their true sinister nature, and our collective fate is tragically entwined with their actions.
If you are thinking that describing Democrats as “sinister” is veering hard into hyperbole, you also might not be paying attention to details. Ultimately, as sock puppets for the very rich and powerful in America, there is no doubt that the Democrats have, and continue to serve the agendas of US-based corporations and military contractors first and foremost. In the last few months as the party in power, they have slowly, strangely morphed into assuming the mantle of responsibility for a wider, global agenda. This agenda does not serve the interests of the average US citizen, much less the global community.
Consider the recent intersections of Joe Biden with global platforms such as the United Nations. In an oratorial diatribe completely free of objectivity and fact-based history, Biden claimed, with complete hypocrisy and no sense of irony, that Russia and Vladimir Putin had committed unprecedented abuses and war crimes that would “make your blood run cold”.
Considering Biden’s recent “cold-blooded” denial of the seriousness of the ongoing COVID pandemic, literally declaring it “over” with a carefree tone, these statements are astounding. Biden’s bellicose rhetoric is amplifying by the hour, but his loyal sycophants prefer to deny the danger. Donald Trump, oddly, is starting to pale in comparison, had he been saying these things, silent liberals would be screaming for his head. I’m surprised that the Russian delegations inspired by Nikita Khrushchev, didn’t loudly protest or walk out.
Biden, hypocritically, ignores the historical record, part of which documents his own vocal, enthusiastic support for the same “cold-blooded” American involvement in illegal wars, CIA-backed coups, and occupations, with a horrific legacy of millions tortured and killed in Iraq, Libya, and Syria.
His speechwriters, as Aaron Mate notes here, were careful.
Speaking of betrayal, what better example of hiding nefarious intentions than Biden’s claim that he averted economic catastrophe by negotiating a tentative contract for long-suffering and abused rail workers, who are now happily returning to work with only slightly diluted concessions and benefits?
The corporate media rushed quickly to spread the “good news,” a viral lie to pacify the masses, despite the fact that the workers were, and remain, overwhelmingly against the flimsy concessions which essentially met none of their reasonable demands.
The workers were, in fact, betrayed by Biden’s administration, in concert with highly paid Union representatives and the rail companies, in closed-door meetings that were reported to have gone on for hours. As noted in the article above article by Jacob Crosse:
“The agreement was reached last week after hours of backroom deals and the personal intervention of President Joe Biden, who hailed the terms as a “great deal for both sides,” a narrative that was quickly parroted by Wall Street and their mouthpieces in the press alike.
Speaking on the tentative agreement as a whole, he was blunt. “It’s f***ed. Now that I’ve seen it in writing I’m sick to my stomach…a slap in the face.”
Terry, a BNSF carmen and participator in the September 14 online public meeting opposed the agreement and wanted to learn more about the RWRFC.
“You know as a worker, you get tired of being taken advantage of. You are always, always, losing something every contract and it has got to stop.”
“I am just a carman, I got 25 years in. Every year we have lost something. I feel bad, I feel bad for the ways and means guys and the TY&E. How could you have a life? How could you have life? You never see your family. You are sick all the time. We are exhausted, dragging all the time, we are so tired.”
He continued, “This TA doesn’t even cover the cost of inflation. It’s terrible, it’s hard even getting by with our pay. I am scratching by, trying to help my mom. It is difficult to get by. These bills, prices for food, you are not gaining any headway. You have no savings.”
The Democrats have made no secret of their true intentions: saving the economy at the expense of workers, health, safety, and quality of life. Your value in society is based on what you produce.
Another event worth noting at this intersection in time is the re-appearance of the ghoulish figures of the Democratic Party's checkered past, again, given a spotlight in a global forum.
The Clinton Global Initiative, as with all conferences of this nature, gives voice to the elitist minority billionaire class. It is strange to imagine how over the years an allegedly “populist” based political party would transform from public servants into sycophants for the world’s richest and most powerful, acting as enablers by implementing their agendas, and as their faithful messengers. One thing seems certain: the Democrats certainly aren’t reaching out to “Joe Six Pack,” as they used to refer to the typical voter, but more accurately, they are now informing Joe Six Pack what his place will be in a newly reordered, world economic order. In that, “Joe” has no say. The stuff that was once a conspiracy is now a reality.
Look at this strange moment, with Former President Clinton as moderator, chuckling and guffawing as he jokes about the ongoing COVID pandemic. Biden’s cold dismissiveness of COVID is now Clinton’s punchline.
“It (COVID) won’t go away (grins) and it won’t kill us apparently”. (Chuckles)
The CEO of Blackrock, bolstered by his official sponsors in the mutated Democratic party, tells the audience that we are going to be going through a “transition” and that, it “won’t be pretty”. Sacrifice is implied as a theme, but not for the elitists who designed and implemented the plan. In other words, the demons that created the very real hell we are presumably to suffer through “collectively” claim, deceptively, that their overarching motivation is “hope” the antidote to “growing fear”.
The cult of King Paimon wouldn’t have done a better job at lying and deceiving.
One of my favorite Substack writers, Caitlin Johnstone, is one of the few independent voices pout there urging an end to horror and insanity. We are, she notes, accelerating rapidly towards global war on three fronts. Perhaps this is the soundest advice to offer at this time :
“One who is sincere and courageous about having an authentic relationship with reality will take seriously the very real possibility that this could all be ending fairly soon. They will face this possibility directly and let it inform the way their humanity expresses itself in the world, rather than compartmentalizing away from it and avoiding it.”
Raise your voice, always be skeptical, and protect your family and friends.
We are on our own now.
Good piece. U forgot to add what we’re learning about covid origins, via Jeffrey Sachs and the Lancet commission: that lab origin is likely and that evidence points to the U.S. and not China, AND U.S. gov health agencies are not complying w/ information & document requests.
Additionally, all-cause mortality continues to go up, in the 30-50yr age group (not the elderly) and covid is NOT the cause. Surreal.
It’s controlled demolition across the board.
